Aver-o-Mar, Amorim e Terroso came to life in 2013. This happened during a national administrative reform. Before that Aver-o-Mar Amorim and Terroso were separate. Amorim and Terroso have histories stretching back to the 11th century. Aver-o-Mar joined later in 1922.

Today Aver-o-Mar, Amorim e Terroso is the second most populous. It is the largest parish in Póvoa de Varzim. About 14253 people call it home. Its area spans 16.64 square kilometers. Aver-o-Mar, Amorim e Terroso is divided into urban and suburban areas. The A28 motorway marks this division.
