How fast can you go on a bobsled? The Avalanche Coaster at Kings Dominion might give you an idea! It’s been a wild ride for this coaster. It started its life in 1988 as one of the only Mack Bobsled roller coasters in the United States. This unique style simulates the experience of riding down a bobsled track, twisting and turning with unpredictable thrills. Although it’s not as intense as some of the park’s bigger coasters, the Avalanche Coaster was a hit with families. Over the years, Kings Dominion has gone through many changes, adding new attractions and even reimagining older ones. The Avalanche Coaster went through one such transformation in 2022. It was rethemed to Reptilian, taking on a new look and adding to the excitement of the Jungle X-Pedition area. While the name and the look might have changed, the core of the experience remains the same: a fun, family-friendly bobsled adventure.
