Is there a hidden gem nestled in Braak? It is the Auferstehungskirche Braak. This church belongs to the Ev. Luth. Kirchengemeinde Alt-Rahlstedt. Let’s discover a bit about this place of worship.

The Ev. Luth. Kirchengemeinde Alt-Rahlstedt is not new. It came into being in 2008. Before that, Alt-Rahlstedt, Martinskirche Neurahlstedt, Kirchengemeinde Großlohe, and the Kirchengemeinde Braak-Stapelfeld-Stellau were independent. Their combined history stretches way back.

The Alt-Rahlstedter Kirche was first documented in 1248. Rahlstedt was then a small village. The church played a role in Christianizing the North. Some think Rahlstedt is even older. They suspect a wooden predecessor to the church existed. Some believe it was built on an old Tingplatz. Its location by the Wandse River is certainly special.

Today, the Auferstehungskirche Braak stands as a part of this larger community. It offers regular services. You can attend services there. Check the schedule for Gottesdienste at 11 AM on the 1st and 4th Sundays. The 3rd Sunday features a Lobpreisgottesdienst at 6 PM.

The church also hosts various events. For example, there are musical performances. “Alte Musik auf historischen Instrumenten” is one such event. It takes place on Wednesdays starting March 5th at 6 PM. Keep an eye on the monthly newsletter for updates.

Planning a visit? The Auferstehungskirche is located An der Chaussee 3, 22145 Braak. You can find it easily. The Nordkirche website offers a map. Be aware that using the map involves sharing your IP address with Google.
