Emerging from the earth, the Auf der Suche nach dem Echten Sculpture embodies a search. A quest for authenticity. Here, before the Hanse-Merkur building, Rupprecht Matthies’s steel creation reaches skyward. The Auf der Suche nach dem Echten Sculpture isn’t just metal. It’s a dialogue between art and nature. Matthies, born in 1959, drew inspiration from the delicate scissor cuts of Philipp Otto Runge. Runge often explored floral motifs. Matthies translated this inspiration into steel. Four flowers intertwine within the sculpture: lily, poppy, narcissus, and cornflower. The Auf der Suche nach dem Echten Sculpture stands approximately four meters tall. Two steel plates, cleverly angled, create its three-dimensional form. The sculpture echoes Runge’s work while forging its own path. The Auf der Suche nach dem Echten Sculpture invites us to reflect on our own search for the genuine. In a world of facades, it reminds us of the enduring power of nature and art.
