You see it right there, standing proud on Riverside Drive, the Atonement Lutheran Church. It’s not just a landmark, it’s a story waiting to be told. The first service was in 1961, in a school cafeteria, with 150 people packed in. Can you imagine? That very same group grew to 206 before the church even had its own building! Now, picture this: the church is dedicated, finally, in 1962. But that’s only the beginning. Just a few years later, they start a mission church, one that still thrives today. By the 1980s, this congregation became so big it spilled over into the surrounding community, the church itself becoming a hub for the locals. The building we see today was built later on, in 1988. You can tell it’s a place of deep commitment, with the original members’ stories woven into its very bricks and mortar.
