Assumption College Primary Section

Did Father Colombet ever imagine his small school would grow into the prestigious Assumption College Primary Section we stand before today? In 1885, driven by a desire to educate Bangkok’s children, Father Emile-August Colombet founded a humble school. It started as the Thai-French School, a simple wooden house offering instruction in both languages. Now, Assumption College Primary Section stands as a testament to his vision. The original school expanded rapidly, outgrowing its first building, known as the “tuek gao.” As the student body grew, so did the need for more space. This led to the establishment of the Assumption College Primary Section in Sathon, Bangkok in 1965. The primary section officially opened its doors on May 22, 1966, and was blessed a year later by Archbishop Joseph Khiamsun Nittayo and Mom Luang Pin Malakul. The primary section sits on eight rai of land. In 2002, the school added an English Program to cater to students seeking an international education. This program, starting with Prathom Suksa 1 and Mathayom Suksa 1, now offers complete primary and secondary levels. Assumption College Primary Section has played a key role in educating generations of Thai boys. It instills not only knowledge but also values of social responsibility, sacrifice, pacifism, and morality.
