Emerging from the Protestant Reformation of the 16th century, Asamblea Cristiana de Madrid stands as a testament to the enduring power of faith. Right here on Calle Álora, this Evangelical Christian church traces its roots back to Martin Luther’s emphasis on biblical scripture. Asamblea Cristiana de Madrid embraces the core tenets of “Sola Fe, Sola Gracia, Solo Cristo, Sola Escritura, Solo a Dios Gloria” (Only Faith, Only Grace, Only Christ, Only Scripture, Only to God Glory). This translates to a deep reverence for the Bible as the ultimate guide for faith and conduct.

Asamblea Cristiana de Madrid isn’t just a historical echo. It’s a vibrant part of the 20th-century Evangelical movement, a revitalization of biblical preaching. The church actively participates in both national and international Evangelical alliances. Asamblea Cristiana de Madrid is a member of the Federation of Evangelical Entities of Spain (FEREDE). It’s also connected to the Evangelical Council of Madrid, the Spanish Evangelical Alliance, the European Evangelical Alliance, and even the World Evangelical Alliance. This global network represents millions of Evangelicals worldwide.

The church’s vision is clear: to nurture disciples who spread the Gospel and reconcile humanity with Jesus Christ. This mission unfolds through five key areas: community, mission, intercultural understanding, intergenerational connection, and holistic growth. Asamblea Cristiana de Madrid strives to impact individuals, the church itself, the local neighborhood, and society as a whole.

Asamblea Cristiana de Madrid functions through small groups called “Encuentro Groups.” These groups provide a space for shared participation, support, and personal development. They also come together for larger weekly celebrations on Sundays. These celebrations feature worship, prayer, Bible studies, and other regular events. The church’s governance is congregational. The General Assembly of members elects leaders and officials. These roles include Area Managers, the Church Council, and the ministerial body.

Asamblea Cristiana de Madrid’s history in Madrid began as a mission of the Jerez de la Frontera Christian Assembly in 1985. It became independent in 2007. Initially shepherded by Manuel Espejo, leadership then passed to Manuel Guerrero. In 2002, after 15 years in the Pan Bendito neighborhood, the church acquired its own space in Vallecas. This new location opened in 2003. That same year, Asun Quintana was ordained as the first female pastor in the Assembly. In 2013, Sonia Gomez and Daniel Oval joined the pastoral team. The church’s social outreach arm, ReCreando, was founded in 2015. A collaboration with VallecasTodoCultura offers legal and employment advice. They have implemented programs like Kids Games, ONN (Operation Christmas Child), and hospital chaplaincies. They’ve also revitalized discipleship materials, updated their bylaws, and encouraged youth participation in leadership roles.

The Asamblea Cristiana de Madrid is more than just a building. It’s a living testament to centuries of faith, a vibrant community actively engaged in its mission to love, teach, and serve.
