Twenty years ago, a dream took root in Denver. Community leaders envisioned a school that would offer a beacon of hope. This dream blossomed into Arrupe Jesuit High School. Arrupe Jesuit High School stands as a testament to the power of education. It opened its doors in 2003, in the former Holy Family High School building on Utica Street. It became the third school in the Cristo Rey Network. This network’s cornerstone is its Corporate Work Study Program. Arrupe Jesuit High School was founded by the Jesuits of the USA Central and Southern Province. It joins Regis University and Regis High School in the Jesuit educational tradition of Denver. Named after Father Pedro Arrupe, the former superior general of the Jesuit order, the school embraces his vision. Arrupe believed faith should combat injustice, alleviate poverty, and eliminate discrimination. Following this philosophy, Arrupe Jesuit High School serves economically disadvantaged students. The school’s unique approach combines rigorous academics with a corporate work-study program. Students earn nearly two-thirds of their tuition by working five days a month in entry-level positions. These experiences provide practical skills and exposure to various career fields. From banking and law to medicine and finance, students gain invaluable real-world knowledge. Arrupe Jesuit High School boasts a 100% high school graduation rate and a 100% college acceptance rate. Its graduates have earned over $122 million in merit-based college scholarships.
