The original granite block chosen for the piece was too small. Ebbe ordered a larger one. The new block turned out to be much too big. He had to painstakingly chisel it down to its current size. Even the placement of the Arbetets Ära Sculpture was carefully considered. A wheeled replica made of wood was moved around the square until the perfect spot was found.
