The story begins in 1915. Zacharias Manamela journeyed from South Africa. His mission was to establish the Apostolic Faith Mission in Zimbabwe. The church had already gained traction in South Africa. G J Booysen supported Manamela. He ensured the church’s registration and recognition. This task faced numerous hurdles.
Recognition finally came in 1918. The church purchased a farm in Gatooma now Kadoma. Under Luttig’s leadership the church began to expand. This expansion led to widespread acceptance across Zimbabwe.
The Apostolic Faith Mission believes in the Holy Spirit. It holds Sunday as a special day for worship. Today the Apostolic Faith Mission boasts a following of over two million people. These members come from diverse backgrounds.
The church is led by a democratically elected president. The president is supported by a council. Council members come from all provinces of the denomination. In 2011 there were about twenty-six provinces. This number changes as the church grows.
