It quickly grew into a major rescue center. Now it takes in a wide variety of animals. Think anacondas. Tigers. Even exotic tarantulas. The center’s mission is clear: Rescue Recovery and Relocation. They nurse animals back to health. Then they release them back into the wild if possible.

A typical day might involve cleaning enclosures preparing food. It might also include administering medicine to a sick animal. The staff ensures that volunteers work 3-4 hours a day. Antigua Exotic has two locations. One in Antigua Guatemala itself. The other is on the south coast. The Antigua location houses smaller animals. These animals need more specialized care. For example the center successfully nursed back to health several rescued owlets. The center currently houses many animals. These include toucans various parrots squirrels and iguanas. Even more tarantulas. Sadly some animals don’t survive. Those animals are frozen for scientific study.
