This wasn’t always a peaceful retreat for bishops. In 1918, it became a refuge for the deposed King Ludwig III of Bavaria during the tumult of the German Revolution. Imagine him here, seeking solace within these very walls as his kingdom crumbled around him! Anif’s allure extended beyond royalty and revolutionaries. It captivated the silver screen too. Remember the Von Trapp family dancing their way through “The Sound of Music”? Some of the most iconic scenes were filmed right here at Schloss Anif.
