A breathtaking panorama unfolds before you. This is the Ampang Look Out Tower.
The Ampang Look Out Tower. For years it stood proudly overlooking Kuala Lumpur. A popular spot offering stunning views. It was a place for romantic dates birthday celebrations and simply enjoying the city skyline. People came from all over to admire the view. They savored delicious meals at the Panorama Restaurant. This restaurant nestled within the tower itself provided a unique dining experience. It served both Western and Middle Eastern cuisine.
Sadly a tragic landslide in 2012 forced its closure. Soil erosion and safety concerns threatened the tower. The building was left abandoned for over a decade. The once vibrant Panorama Restaurant became a ruin. Its roof caved in. Its walls crumbled. Yet the underlying Minangkabau architectural influence remained visible even in its decay.
Even in its abandoned state the Ampang Look Out Tower held a certain allure. Visitors still ventured to its lower areas. Roadside stalls selling food appeared illegally. The Kajang city council would periodically remove them but they’d always return.
But hope remains. The Ampang Look Out Tower is set for redevelopment. A joint venture between the Selangor government and Pearl Holiday Travel & Tour Sdn Bhd aims to revitalize this iconic viewpoint. Plans include slope stabilization a new food and beverage area an event space and even glamping facilities. The goal is to reopen phase one by July 1 2024.
Imagine the Ampang Look Out Tower restored to its former glory. Picture yourself once again enjoying the breathtaking Kuala Lumpur skyline. This time enhanced by modern amenities and a renewed focus on sustainable tourism. The tower’s legacy will continue to captivate visitors for years to come. The panoramic views will always be a draw. The Ampang Look Out Tower will be reborn. A testament to perseverance and the enduring beauty of Kuala Lumpur.
