Am Berger Hang is a true gem for nature lovers. This former steep bank of the Main River slopes gently down. It’s part of the larger Berger Rücken. In spring primroses and violets bloom beneath the fruit trees. Orchids thrive in the meadows. They display their vibrant colors in summer.
Am Berger Hang is a protected area. This area is botanically and zoologically valuable. It’s designated as a nature reserve. Here you might spot a tawny owl a nightingale a woodchat shrike a wryneck and many insect species. Many flowering plants grow here. These include rare orchids like the military orchid and fragrant orchid. Picking the flowers is strictly forbidden. They are protected.

The MainäppelHaus is a popular destination. It’s a large orchard. It’s operational in summer. It offers tours about fruit trees. Next to it lies the Lohrpark.
