In 1932, a dream took root in Jerusalem. Dr. Henry Keller, an American orthopedist, envisioned a haven for children with physical disabilities. This dream blossomed into the Alyn Hospital. Alyn Hospital began its journey in a modest setting. The hospital’s early days were marked by a polio epidemic that swept through Israel in the 1940s and 50s. The Ministry of Health offered Alyn Hospital a former monastery. This building, once belonging to the St. Simon Orthodox Church, became a temporary sanctuary for nearly 200 children. The monastery provided much-needed space. However, it wasn’t ideal for a growing rehabilitation center. Alyn Hospital needed a proper home. In 1971, that home became a reality. Thanks to a generous donation from Malcolm and Dorothy Woldenberg, the Alyn Woldenberg Family Hospital opened its doors. Located in the Kiryat Yovel neighborhood of Jerusalem, this new facility offered state-of-the-art care. Alyn Hospital’s mission has always been to empower children. The hospital provides comprehensive rehabilitation services. They treat children and young adults with a wide range of physical challenges. Alyn Hospital helps these young individuals reach their full potential. They strive to integrate them into their families and communities. The hospital’s commitment to inclusive care is unwavering. Alyn Hospital serves all children, regardless of their religion, nationality, or ethnic background. The staff at Alyn Hospital believes that every child deserves the chance to thrive. They work tirelessly to provide cutting-edge treatments and therapies. Alyn Hospital’s legacy of compassion and excellence continues to inspire hope in Jerusalem and beyond.
