Inside, the building once echoed with the voices of the Lutheran congregation, who held services here from 1660 until they found a new home in 1673. Even schoolchildren learned their lessons within these walls until 1709. In 1886, Seckbach got its first mounted gendarme. His station was right here in the Altes Rathaus Seckbach. Fast forward to 1900. Seckbach became part of Frankfurt, and the Rathaus’s role changed. It housed offices for the district administrator, tax collector, and registrar. The fire brigade also used the ground floor. The building underwent renovations in 1901. A new clock was installed, and the old fire bell was connected to chime every quarter hour. The building even had a gaslight connection in 1904. During World War II, while bombs fell around Seckbach, the Altes Rathaus Seckbach miraculously remained unscathed. By 1990, the building was showing its age. The Saalbau GmbH stepped in, undertaking a major restoration. A steel corset was installed to support the structure. The interior was modernized while preserving the historical character. Today, the Altes Rathaus Seckbach is a vibrant community center. It hosts events, meetings, and even weddings.
