Right here stands the Alpine Veteran’s Wall of Honor. It is more than just a structure. It’s a testament to courage sacrifice and unwavering dedication.

The Alpine Veteran’s Wall of Honor began as a dream. It became a reality through the tireless efforts of the Alpine community. This wall immortalizes the names of those who served. They bravely defended the freedoms we cherish today.

Dan Foster conceived this Wall of Honor as a memorial. It started for Alpine veterans. Now it includes living and deceased veterans from all service branches. It doesn’t matter where they call home.

Foster calls it a thank you to anyone who wore a military uniform. The gratitude is louder when put on a granite tile. The tiles reflect each veteran’s name rank and service.

Originally there was a plan to lay the names into a brick path. Foster didn’t want anyone walking on his father’s name. So an upright wall was built instead.

The Alpine Veteran’s Wall of Honor has been expanded over the years. The Wall of Honor is visible day and night. It’s lit up to ensure these heroes are never forgotten.

Imagine the stories etched into each granite tile. Each name represents a life dedicated to service. Some saw combat. Others served in supporting roles. All played a part in defending our nation.

The Alpine Veteran’s Wall of Honor Committee hosts events. Veterans Day is celebrated here. Memorial Day gatherings also take place. These events feature stories from veterans and their families. Patriotic music fills the air. Updates are given from groups serving veterans.

In 2015 the Wall of Honor hosted the “Remembering Our Fallen” exhibit. It honored California men and women. They lost their lives in Iraq and Afghanistan during the War on Terrorism.

The Kiwanis Club of Alpine played an important role. They inspired the creation of the Alpine Veteran’s Wall of Honor.

The Alpine Community Center hosts the Wall of Honor. It is a place of peace and reflection. Future generations will come to respect and admire it.

A book titled “Mission Honored – A Dream Achieved” tells true stories of veterans. These veterans are on the Alpine Wall of Honor. Diana Saenger volunteered for two years to write it. All proceeds go back to the Wall of Honor.

As you stand here take a moment. Reflect on the sacrifices made by these heroes. Let the Alpine Veteran’s Wall of Honor serve as a reminder. Freedom isn’t free. It’s earned through the bravery and commitment of those who served. May we never forget their service. May we always honor their memory here at the Alpine Veteran’s Wall of Honor.
