Founded in 1974, Al Wahda FC has grown into a sporting institution. It represents the spirit and ambition of the United Arab Emirates. The club’s journey began with the merging of Al-Ittihad and Al-Wahda. This formed Abu Dhabi SC. Al-Ahli and Al-Falah merged to create Al-Emirates SC. Finally in 1984, Abu Dhabi SC and Al-Emirates SC merged. This birthed the Al Wahda FC we know today.
The Al Nahyan Stadium stands proudly as Al Wahda’s home. It is located just three kilometers from downtown Abu Dhabi. Imagine the roar of the crowd in this stadium. It has a capacity of over 15,000 seats. It has witnessed countless thrilling matches and historic victories. His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan and His Excellency Naruhito opened Al Nahyan Stadium in 1995. Al Nahyan Stadium was improved in 2019 under the support of His Highness Sheikh Theyab bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
Al Wahda’s maroon, navy blue and white colors are proudly displayed by fans. They represent the club’s identity and heritage. Al Wahda won their first UAE League title in 1999. They were eight points ahead of their rivals Al Ain. In 2018, Al Wahda updated its logo.
Al Wahda has achieved trophies on local and regional levels. Its Football Academy is the best in the Arabian Gulf region. The team represented the UAE in the FIFA World Cup for Clubs in 2010.
