Imagine stepping back to the 1980s. That’s when Al Waha District in Riyadh first emerged.

Al Waha was once a distinct neighborhood. It held a special place in the city’s northern region. Let’s explore its story.

Al Waha District sat west of King Abdullah District. It was east of the Salah al-Din neighborhood. This location placed it in the sub-municipality of al-Ulaya. The district covered almost 798 acres. Prince Khalid bin Sultan initially owned it.

Prince Khalid bin Sultan al-Saud held an important position. He was the former deputy defense minister of Saudi Arabia. He later sold Al Waha to Khaled al-Baltan. Khaled al-Baltan is a Saudi real-estate magnate.

Al Waha’s story took a turn in May 2023. It merged with the adjacent Salah al-Din neighborhood. They became the King Salman Neighborhood. This renaming honored King Salman bin Abdulaziz. He has been the ruler of Saudi Arabia since 2015. It also recognized his efforts to modernize Riyadh. He served as governor of Riyadh Province from 1963 to 2011.

King Salman Neighborhood boasts vital service facilities. These include healthcare centers and schools. There are also commercial markets. Main roads connect it to various parts of Riyadh. The neighborhood provides villas and apartments. These residences feature distinctive designs.

Consider Al-Wahah Park. It offered residents a green space for relaxation. Several mosques served the community. These included Ibn al-Uthaymin Mosque and Fahd al-Owaidah Mosque. Also Princess Juhaier bint Bandar Mosque and Al-Wahah Mosque.

Al Waha provided numerous supermarkets. Oasis Grocery and Quality Foundation Supplies were among them. The district also had smaller grocery stores. Several schools are nearby. Prince Sultan University is just six minutes away. It offers bachelor’s and master’s degrees.

Residents had access to medical services. Al-Fursan Medical Center and Al-Mustaqbal Medical Center were nearby. Various clinics served different specialties.

Al Waha Shopping Centers provided unique experiences. Al Waha Square featured high-end shops. Restaurants and coffee shops were abundant. Kudo Restaurant and Heidi Dorf Cafe are examples.

Al Waha is easily accessible through King Abdullah Road. It’s also located on Exit 10. The neighborhood is considered family-friendly.

Although Al Waha no longer exists as a separate district. Its history remains an integral part of Riyadh. It shaped the modern King Salman Neighborhood. Its legacy of community and development lives on.
