Sultan Taimur bin Faisal Mosque was built to honor Sultan Qaboos’ grandfather. This mosque opened in 2012 in Mabilah North. Its style reflects 16th-century Mongolic structures with modern Omani elements. Non-Muslims can visit from 8 am to 11 am Saturday through Thursday.

Sayyidah Maizoon bint Ahmed Mosque commemorates Sultan Qaboos’ mother. It opened in 2006 in Al Mawalih. The mosque features a minimalist outer design and intricate calligraphy inside. Maizoon Mosque is closed to non-Muslims.

Talib bin Mohammed Mosque located in Muttrah has a unique colorful minaret. It is named after businessman Talib bin Mohammed Al Zakwani. Non-Muslims are not permitted inside Talib bin Mohammed Mosque.

The Mosque of the Great Prophet in Muttrah was originally built in the 15th century. Renovations occurred in the 90s. It has a blue dome and minaret with Quranic scriptures. Shia ceremonies happen outside during special times. The Mosque of the Great Prophet is not open to Non-Muslims.

Sultan Said bin Taimur Mosque honors Sultan Qaboos’ father. It opened in 1999 in Al Khuwair. Its Ottoman style includes a blend of colors and calligraphy. Sultan Said bin Taimur mosque is not open to non-Muslims.

Al Khor Mosque near Al Alam Palace was built in the late 19th century. Sultan Qaboos renovated it in 1980. It is known as the Mosque of the Family. It features a tiled ceiling with Allah’s names and tinted glass walls. It lacks a large ceiling dome. Non-Muslims can visit Al Khor Mosque from 8 am to 11 am Saturday through Thursday.

Al Zulfa Mosque also known as the Royal Guards of Oman Mosque opened in 1992. It features over 20 domes and unique tinted glasswork. Al Zulfa mosque is not open to non-Muslims.

Mohammed Al Ameen Mosque also called Bahwan Mosque is often mistaken for the Grand Mosque. It has a large Persian carpet. Mohammed Al Ameen mosque is open for non-Muslims.

Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque is the grand jewel of Omani architecture. It boasts a Persian rug and a Swarovski crystal chandelier. Non-Muslims can visit from 8 am to 11 am Saturday through Thursday.
