Ever wonder what Dubai looked like before the towering skyscrapers? Let’s journey back to 1975 at Al Safa Park. Back then, Al Safa Park wasn’t the urban oasis we see today. The area was actually home to makeshift settlements of immigrants, mainly from South Asia. They contributed significantly to Dubai’s early development. Al Safa Park stands as a testament to Dubai’s dramatic transformation. Established in 1975, it became one of Dubai’s first major parks. Imagine this 64-hectare space. Originally on the outskirts, it’s now nestled between Sheikh Zayed Road, Al Wasl Road, and Al Hadiqa Street. Four entrances welcome you to this green escape. One of the fascinating aspects of Al Safa Park is its evolution. It underwent major redevelopments in 1984 and again between 1989 and 1992. These renovations brought essential amenities, including restrooms, an indoor playground, and improved recreational facilities. Al Safa Park isn’t just about greenery. It boasts three lakes, a small forest, and even a hill with a cascading waterfall. Over 200 bird species and a staggering 16,924 trees and bushes call this park home. Al Safa Park also offers a unique experience for families. Children can explore a miniature city, complete with small-scale roads, traffic lights, and signs. Joggers and walkers enjoy panoramic views along dedicated tracks. For a small fee of Dh.3, you can enter this green paradise any day of the week between 8:00 am and 11:00 pm. Tuesdays are reserved for women and children. Al Safa Park truly offers a blend of history, nature, and recreation in the heart of Dubai. Remember this hidden gem, a testament to Dubai’s growth, offering a serene retreat amidst the city’s vibrant energy.
