In the early 1960s, Al Khair Mosque was founded. Picture this hilltop scene. Vegetable farms surrounded the original Jamek Mosque. It was later officially renamed Al Khair Mosque in 1963. This renaming marked a new chapter for the mosque and its community.

Fast forward to the late 1990s. Al Khair Mosque underwent a significant transformation. Rebuilt under the Mosque Building Fund, it operationally opened in 1997. Its official opening was on May 31, 1998. This marked a new era for Al Khair Mosque.

About 15 years later, Al Khair Mosque was upgraded. The Mosque Upgrading Programme took 18 months. This exercise completed in 2015 modernized the mosque.

Al Khair Mosque stands as a testament to community spirit. The Muslim community and Dr Haji Yaacob Mohammad joined forces. They realized the original building.

In 1995, Al Khair Mosque relocated. It was rebuilt into the majestic building at Teck Whye Crescent’s entrance. This new building marked progress. It was the first mosque built in Phase 3 of the Mosque Building Fund programme. It was the 17th overall since the programme started in 1975.

Al Khair Mosque is known for its senior citizens group. Sohibul Khair organizes activities. Morning exercise and talks on healthy aging are included. This shows the mosque’s commitment. It is dedicated to well-being.

In 2017, Al Khair Mosque was renovated again. A new prayer hall was added on the third floor. Improvements were made to the roof. The electrical system was upgraded. The facade was enhanced. The upgraded mosque is now barrier-free. Lift access is available to all floors.

Al Khair Mosque can accommodate 4,000 people. It’s a vibrant center for worship and community activities. Its history shows dedication. Al Khair Mosque shows Singapore’s Muslim community’s commitment to faith and community.
