The year is 1877. A devout Athenian named Theodoro Komnino gazes upon his completed masterpiece: the small Agios Nikolaos church in Glyfada, a suburb of Athens. That church earned the moniker “small Agios Nikolaos” after a new, larger church replaced it in 1962. The area surrounding Agios Nikolaos also bears the saint’s name. It’s a desirable and expensive district of Glyfada, known for its proximity to upscale shops and the Athens Tram. Agios Nikolaos also boasts the presence of the Yannopoulos Schools.
