Founded in 2007 Agape House New Testament Church stands as a testament to faith and community. Its story began with a vision. Reverend Richard C Whitcomb envisioned a church in East Legon. This church would reach out to the community. It would impact students at nearby universities. It would touch lives across Accra Ghana and the world.

Initially services were held at Reverend Whitcomb’s home. Then they moved to the Miklin Hotel. As the congregation grew they relocated to the Mensvic Grand Hotel on Lagos Avenue. This move accommodated the increasing number of worshippers. A second Sunday service was even added.

In 2011 Agape House found a permanent home. They moved into a church building they had purchased near the A & C Mall in East Legon. The church continues to grow. Its future is bright. Their vision includes completing the current building. Then they plan to build a larger cathedral. This new cathedral will seat 4000 people. They also hope to open branches throughout Accra and beyond.

Agape House is more than just a building. It’s a family of disciples. They strive for joyful communion with Christ. They seek to share His character compassion and charisma. Their goal is to bring joy to God’s heart. They want to impact their community city nation and the world. They do this by evangelizing the lost empowering the church and embracing the poor.

The church’s name is meaningful. Agape is the Greek word for God’s love. House signifies their family-like atmosphere. New Testament highlights their commitment to the scriptures. Church denotes the called out ones. Together these words describe their core values and mission.

Yet Agape House faces challenges. One review on GhanaYello highlights a frustrating experience. A woman was prevented from entering with her laptop bag. This incident reveals a need for improved security procedures and compassion. It’s a reminder that even within a growing church issues can arise. It’s important to balance security with welcoming members from all walks of life.

Today Agape House New Testament Church stands as a beacon of hope and faith. Its story is a journey. It’s a testament to the power of a vision and the dedication of a community. It’s a story of growth challenges and unwavering commitment to serving God and others. It is a church that continues to make its mark on Accra and beyond.
