Agape Gemeinde Freilassing celebrated its 30th anniversary. The celebration began with praise led by the Agape band. About 350 people attended. Kurt Wiesbacher welcomed everyone to a “Fest zur Freude für alle und zur Ehre Gottes.”
Wiesbacher reflected on the past 30 years. He also looked toward Jesus. He thanked Jesus for “enduring with us for 30 years”. The church aimed to share God’s word. They used various events to reach the city of Freilassing. Bierzelt-Gottesdienste have been held annually since 2014. In 2015, they provided spiritual care for refugees. In 2022, they offered shelter to refugees from Ukraine. Wiesbacher also mentioned the “Markus-Theater”. It’s a new form of outreach that happened in the summer of 2024. He recommended the Bistro “Zammkemma”. It provides lunch on Wednesdays for a donation.
Bernd Wustl, the church founder, preached at the anniversary. Katrin Heinze, a pastor from Berlin, also preached. Wustl spoke about the need for a free Christian community. He said people have a deep longing for meaning. He quoted John 14, saying “no one comes to the Father except through Jesus.” He added that people cannot walk this path alone. They need community. “We build community because we honor Jesus,” he said. “We proclaim the Gospel and live it in the community.”
Pastor Katrin Heinze based her sermon on Acts 16. She talked about Paul and Silas in prison. They prayed and connected with God. An earthquake changed the atmosphere. Chains fell off and doors opened. “They had no superpowers,” she said. “They simply aligned themselves with the rule of the one God.” She concluded with a touching prayer.
Christoph Bräuer and Sarah Fuchs presented honors. They recognized the couples Siegi and Renate Feil. Andrea and Peter Conrad were also honored. Michaela and Gerd Clausonet received recognition. Luggi Oberthanner, Susanne and Bernd Wustl, and Lukas Wustl were also honored. The four women from the office each received a large “Merci” chocolate. They were Sarah Fuchs, Brigitte Portisch, Jenny Neumeier, and Jenny Kreuzberger.
