Imagine a sanctuary where thousands gather. This is Action Chapel International. It stands as one of Ghana’s oldest and largest megachurches.

Action Chapel International has a rich history. It reflects the growth of charismatic Christianity in Ghana. The church was founded in 1979 by Nicholas Duncan-Williams. He is a key figure in Ghana’s religious landscape.

Since 1992, Action Chapel International has been meeting in its “Prayer Cathedral”. The Prayer Cathedral is near Accra Airport. The building officially opened in 2002. But construction continued even into 2003. Its 8000-seat capacity makes it the largest church building in Accra.

Nicholas Duncan-Williams is not only the founder of Action Chapel International. He is also the Presiding Archbishop. And he is the General Overseer of Christian Action Faith Ministries. This ministry is headquartered here in Accra. Duncan-Williams is also known as the father of the Charismatic Movement in Ghana. This movement began 40 years ago. It has since spread to other parts of West Africa.

Christian Action Faith Ministries is one church with many locations. It boasts over 300 affiliate and branch churches. These churches are located in North America. They are also in Europe and Africa.

Duncan-Williams is often called the Apostle of Strategic Prayer. He is also the Founder and President of Prayer Summit International. These summits bring revivals to cities worldwide. They do this through prayer.

Named one of “The 100 Most Influential Africans” by New African Magazine, Duncan-Williams also founded Dominion University. The university aims to train a new generation. They will focus on excellence and ethical leadership. This includes ministry, government, and business.

Compassion in Action Africa is another of Duncan-Williams’ initiatives. It transforms schools under trees. They become 21st-century educational facilities. It also provides clean water. This NGO supports an orphanage with 150 children. It aids a drug rehabilitation facility, too. This facility houses 120 people.

Action Chapel International equips believers. It prepares them for end-time assignments. The church trains many for the Kingdom of God. Duncan-Williams’ own life story inspires many. His birth was considered a medical miracle. Doctors had attempted to terminate his mother’s pregnancy. Yet, he survived.

Duncan-Williams gave his life to Christ in 1976. He vowed to spread the gospel. He promised to serve God for the rest of his life. He is a mentor to many bishops and pastors. He is also a spiritual advisor to African heads of state.

Duncan-Williams emphasizes prayer. He says, “There is no substitute for prayer”. He believes it is the lifeline of believers. He also thinks intercession will precede the coming of the Lord.

Action Chapel International reaches many through Dominion Television. It also uses social media platforms. These include Facebook Live and YouTube. The church has grown from its humble beginnings. It now has over 100 branches worldwide.

Action Chapel International values people. It embraces various backgrounds and ethnicities. It empowers people. They discover and fulfill their God-given talents. The church demonstrates Christ’s compassion. It builds bridges between cultures. It believes in God no matter what. It embraces the five-fold ministry. This includes apostles, prophets, teachers, pastors, and evangelists. Action Chapel International is more than just a church. It is a global movement. It transforms lives. It impacts communities. It spreads the Gospel.
