The mountain’s trails are part of the extensive Seoul Trail. The complete section through Yongmasan and Achasan is 12.6 km long. It typically takes about five hours to complete.
Now, for a bit of insider information: Sunset here is legendary. The transformation is breathtaking as daylight fades. Lotte Tower slowly lights up. City lights twinkle to life.
Many hikers start their journey from Gwangnaru Station. From there they pass by the Achasan Administrative Office. This office is an ideal starting point. It provides directional signs, trail maps, and essential facilities.
There are two main routes to the Achasan summit. The adventurous souls among you might prefer the Rock Wall trail. It’s a steeper, more direct path offering a unique rock formation. Along the trail, keep an eye out for orange ribbons tied to the trees. They are guiding hikers along Seoul Trail course.
You will find the Goguryeojeong Pavilion. This is a worthy stop offering a magnificent view of the rock wall. Hikers often pause here. They take photos with the brightly coloured pavilion.
Further along, Sunrise Square awaits. As its name suggests, it is another popular spot. It offers great views of Seoul. There is even a solar energy mobile phone charger.
From Achasan Mountain, you can see the Han River and Lotte World Tower.
At the summit of Achasan Ridge, you’ll find a simple wooden block. It marks your accomplishment of reaching this Seoul peak. From here, you can continue to Yongmasan Mountain or return to the Achasan Administrative Office.
