Is there a more powerful symbol of faith than water? Here at Abundant Waters Fellowship in Houston, that symbol takes on a deep and meaningful significance. Pastor Mark Brown, a Houston native, founded this church in 1993. Before finding his calling, Pastor Brown’s life was quite different. He excelled in sports, even winning a Junior Olympics weightlifting championship at fifteen. But despite his achievements, something felt missing. Pastor Brown fell into a period of drug and alcohol abuse, searching for purpose. At nineteen, his life changed forever when he met a man “born again”. This encounter led him to dedicate his life to Christ. He became deeply involved with Lakewood Church, leading a street ministry, and later served as a Youth Pastor. His dedication even took him to the Philippines for a year as a missionary. Pastor Brown felt a calling to build a mission program, a calling inspired by Proverbs 24:27: “Prepare your work outside; get everything ready for yourself in the field, and only then build your house.” Heeding this message, he founded Abundant Waters Fellowship. The church, now thriving on five acres in northwest Houston, stands as a testament to his dedication and faith. Abundant Waters Fellowship is more than just a building. It’s a beacon of hope and a testament to the transformative power of faith.
