Originally known as the Ketu District Ablekuma Central’s story begins in February 2008. A significant split occurred. Two distinct districts emerged Ablekuma Central and Ketu South. President John Agyekum Kufour officially inaugurated Ablekuma Central on February 29 2008. It was a momentous occasion marking a new chapter in the area’s history.

But the story doesn’t end there. Ablekuma Central’s journey continued. It became one of six districts inaugurated on February 9 2019. This time separated from the Accra Metropolitan Assembly. A Medium-Term Development Plan guided its growth from 2019 to 2021. This plan helped shape the district’s future.

Ablekuma Central is geographically significant. It’s located in the northern part of the Greater Accra Region. It’s bounded by Ablekuma West to the west. Accra Metropolitan Assembly lies to the east and south. Ablekuma North Municipal sits to the north. This prime location makes it strategically important.

Its population according to the 2021 census is 169145. This demonstrates its growth and vibrancy. 82594 are males. 86551 are females. The Ablekuma Central Municipal Assembly plays a vital role in managing this district. It provides essential services like water supply environmental health and marriage licenses.
