“Ever wondered what it feels like to touch the sky while surrounded by art?” I ask. The 63 Sky Art offers more than just a view. It provides an experience.

63 Sky Art once resided on the 60th floor of the iconic 63 Building. This building itself is a landmark. It stood as Korea’s tallest for over two decades until 2002. The 63 Building symbolizes South Korea’s economic growth. Its construction finished in 1985. Originally, it housed the headquarters of the Daehan Life Insurance Company. It is now the Hanwha Group.

The 63 Building’s exterior boasts gold-tinted glass. This creates a shimmering effect at sunrise and sunset. Each of the 14000 glass panes has a thin layer of 24-carat gold. Imagine the building sparkling in the sunlight.

Fast elevators whisked visitors to the top in mere seconds. They moved at 460 meters per minute. Reaching the top felt like a rocket launch. From the 60th floor, the 63 Sky Art provided mesmerizing views. You could see Namsan Tower. You could see Lotte World Tower. You could see the Han River bridges.

The 63 Sky Art combined art with panoramic views. It offered a unique cultural experience. The art gallery featured various contemporary works. These pieces were set against the backdrop of Seoul. The views stretched out in every direction. They provided a stunning contrast to the art on display. Imagine gazing at modern masterpieces. Then, glance out to see the sprawling cityscape.

Visiting during the late afternoon allowed for a mix of daytime and nighttime views. The sunset painted the sky. Nighttime city lights twinkled below. Spring and fall offered clear skies. Winter revealed a stunning snowy Seoul.

The 63 Building houses other attractions too. There was an IMAX theater. There were fine dining restaurants. There was a gift shop. You could find unique Korean souvenirs there. You could even find premium gold bar-inspired merchandise.

Though Aqua Planet 63 has ceased operations it once housed over 30000 marine creatures. These creatures represented over 400 species.
The Centre Pompidou Hanwha Seoul is scheduled to open in 63 Square in 2025.

To get here, you could take subway Line 5 to Yeouinaru Station. You could also take subway Line 9 to Saetgang Station. Blue Buses 261, 262, 5633, and 5713 stop right at 63 Square. Taxis are also an easy option. Just tell the driver “Yook-sam Building”.

While 63 Sky Art is currently closed, 63 Building continues to offer panoramic views of Seoul. It remains easily accessible. It provides a perfect blend of culture, entertainment, and relaxation. The golden silhouette of 63 Building is still an iconic landmark. It’s a must-visit in Seoul.
