Angular forms reach for the sky. This is Erich Hauser’s 6-87/88. It stands tall on Kernerplatz in Stuttgart. Three streets meet here. They form a star shape above the Kulturmeile.
The 6-87/88 sculpture dominates the square. It was created by Erich Hauser in 1987 and 1988. The sculpture sits on a concrete base. It is made of stainless steel. Its polished surface reflects light. This creates an ever-changing appearance.
The 6-87/88 sculpture is about 18.3 meters high. Its slender form fits well into the square. The square is quite compact. The sculpture does not feel overwhelming.
The overall sculpture comprises various triangular shapes. Some are sharp-edged. Others are pointed. Yet they come together to form a whole. The whole forms a tetrahedron. No two shapes are alike.
