The first principal, Kim Jin-seong, took office in July 2009. August 2009 marked the official approval for the establishment of Hana Academy Seoul. February 2010 saw the completion of the school building. The academy opened its doors in March 2010. The first entrance ceremony was also held at this time.
June 2010 was a turning point. The school officially transitioned into an autonomous private high school. In November 2010, the Hana Art Center opened. The first graduation ceremony took place in February 2013.
