“How did Jeju Shinkwang Church begin?” some may ask. It started in November 1968.
Jeju Shinkwang Church began on a small plot of land. The plot was only 20 pyeong. This is in the Juahn 3-dong area. Evangelist Lee Jung-ho was invited. He became the first pastor. Shinhung Church supported the founding.
In 1977, the church acquired more land. This new land measured 262 pyeong. It was located in Juahn 3-dong. This provided more space for the growing congregation of Jeju Shinkwang Church.
Construction began in 1978. Members laid the foundation for a new sanctuary. A basement was constructed in December. It measured 100 pyeong.
In 1980, the church expanded again. The construction of the sanctuary began. It added two or three floors. This expansion provided much-needed space. The total area was about 320 pyeong.
Choi In-mo became the pastor in September 1979. He was the fifth pastor of Jeju Shinkwang Church.
In February 2001, the church celebrated its 10th anniversary. The celebration took place at the India Goboldang. Many leaders attended including Pastor Choi In-mo.
In April 2001, another church was founded. It was the “Drita e Re” Shinkwang Church in Albania. Many leaders from Jeju Shinkwang Church attended.
Jeju Shinkwang Church acquired additional land in June 2001. The land would be used for educational facilities.
Many pastors have served Jeju Shinkwang Church over the years. These leaders have guided the congregation. They have overseen periods of growth and change.
In 2023, the church focused on healing. They held special prayer meetings. These meetings aimed to restore hearts. They organized events for different age groups. They also supported global missions.
Jeju Shinkwang Church has a rich history. It has grown from humble beginnings. It continues to serve its community.
