Established in 1887, Chungshin Girls’ Middle School stands as a testament to the enduring spirit of education. This institution, located in Seoul’s Jongno-gu district, has witnessed over a century of transformations, mirroring the dynamic history of Korea itself. Originally founded as a primary school by Annie J. Ellers, Chungshin Girls’ Middle School transitioned to a middle school in 1909. The school’s early years saw it evolve from Jeongdong Primary School to Yeondong Educational Institute, before finally adopting its current name. Its growth continued even amidst the turmoil of the Korean War. The school relocated to Busan for a period, before returning to Seoul and merging with other institutions. This resilience is reflected in its consistent expansion and renovation throughout the years. Today, Chungshin Girls’ Middle School provides a nurturing environment. It focuses on fostering well-rounded individuals. The school grounds offer a blend of historic and modern architecture. It boasts a recently renovated gymnasium and a memorial hall dedicated to Kim Maria, a key figure in the school’s history.
