It’s a living testament to the spirit of Jeju Island. The Ido-1-dong Community Center has witnessed over four decades of Jeju’s history. It began its life in 1964 as a simple public health center. Now, it stands as a symbol of community strength and resilience. The original health center, built with hopes of a brighter future, served the community for an impressive 45 years. Its transformation in 2007 marked a new chapter. The Ido-1-dong Community Center became a vital hub for local residents, providing essential services and a place to gather. This renovation wasn’t just a cosmetic upgrade. The dedicated residents of Ido-1-dong played a key role in its expansion and modernization. The center boasts a main building covering an impressive 2254.4 square meters, an annex building of 827.6 square meters, and an auxiliary building of 78.22 square meters. It was finally completed in September that same year. The new Ido-1-dong Community Center is designed with two distinct purposes. The east wing focuses on providing essential public services, while the west wing is dedicated to preserving and promoting the rich cultural heritage of Jeju Island. It serves as a vital link between the past and the future, embodying the spirit of this vibrant community.
