Whispers of faith echo through the years here at the Seoul Grace Church. This unassuming building holds a powerful story of dedication and global impact. The Seoul Grace Church, or 서울은혜교회 in Korean, stands as a testament to the vision of one man, Pastor David Kwangshin Kim.

Pastor Kim, a fourth-generation Christian, embarked on an unlikely path to ministry. He was a graduate of the prestigious Seoul National University and a successful businessman in the US. At the age of 42, his life took a dramatic turn. He found faith, left his business, and dedicated himself to theological studies at Talbot School of Theology.

His journey led him to establish Grace Korean Church in the US in 1982 with just three families. Within three years, the congregation blossomed to a thousand members. Pastor Kim’s commitment to world missions was evident from the start. He dedicated a remarkable 50% of the church’s budget to spreading the Gospel. By 1987, their mission fund exceeded one million dollars, supporting missionaries across the globe.

The church’s first missionary, Mr. Hwang, was sent to Guam in 1982. Since then, the Seoul Grace Church, along with Grace Korean Church and Grace Ministries International (GMI), has sent over 250 missionaries to more than 50 countries. Their influence extends across continents, from the thousands of churches planted in Russia and China to those in Africa, Vietnam, and South America. In the US, their mission work surpasses the combined efforts of the second and third largest American church missions.

In 2004, Pastor Kim returned to his homeland to establish the Seoul Grace Church. The first service was held on November 28th, 2004, in Gangdong-gu. The official opening followed on May 15th, 2005. The Seoul Grace Church continues Pastor Kim’s legacy of missionary training and outreach. Their Missionary Training Center, established in 2007, trains future missionaries regardless of their church affiliation.

The Seoul Grace Church stands as more than just a building. It represents a global network of faith and a testament to the transformative power of dedication. It is a beacon of hope, sending light to the far corners of the world. As you stand here, consider the ripple effect of faith, spreading outwards from this unassuming location, touching lives across the globe.
