Whispers of faith echo through time. They speak of a humble beginning, a tent pitched against the Seoul sky, a testament to the unwavering spirit of two pastors. Here, at 예은교회, those whispers become a resounding story. 예은교회, established in 1971, stands as a beacon of the Christian Reformed Church, nestled within the vibrant tapestry of Seoul. It’s a relatively young church compared to some of Seoul’s grand cathedrals. Yet its story is no less compelling. Pastor Myung Jae Lee, the church’s first minister, guided the flock for over two decades, from 1967 to 1992. His dedication laid the foundation for the church’s growth and enduring presence in the community. The church has seen a succession of devoted ministers, each leaving their unique mark. Dohong Jou, Hyun-Jin Kim, Chul Sup Bang, and InHwan (Enoch) Kim have all shepherded the congregation, carrying on the legacy of faith and service. Today, 예은교회 embraces a close-knit community of approximately 40 attendees, with a membership of 37 souls. Every Sunday at 10:45 am, the Korean service fills the sanctuary with prayer and song. While the church is partially barrier-free, it’s worth noting that sound and projection are not yet fully accessible. However, the church maintains a fragrance-free environment to ensure comfort for all. It’s a place where tradition meets modernity. A place where the whispers of faith, first heard in a simple tent, continue to inspire and uplift. 예은교회 is more than just a building. It’s a living testament to the enduring power of faith, community, and service in the heart of Seoul.
