Did you hear about the student who could read minds? He wasn’t a superhero. He was Park Soo-ha, a character played by actor Lee Jong-suk, an alumnus of Yangjae High School. Right here at Yangjae High School, in the Seocho District of Seoul, future stars and scholars are made. Established in 1990, Yangjae High School, often referred to as YHS, boasts an impressive history. It’s known for its rigorous academics, diverse extracurricular activities, and notable alumni like Lee Jong-suk, the K-wave star. Yangjae High School isn’t just a place of learning. It’s a vibrant hub of activity, with over 60 clubs catering to various interests. Imagine debating current events, conducting science experiments, or crafting the perfect essay in the Saturday Academy, a unique program designed to hone students’ skills. YHS even has a well-being hall dedicated to school meals, ensuring students are nourished for their academic pursuits. Located near Yangjae Station, YHS is easily accessible. It’s also connected to the National Diplomatic Academy of Korea and the Seocho District Government Office, adding to the dynamic atmosphere of the area. About 20% of YHS graduates go on to attend prestigious universities like Seoul National University, Korea University, and Yonsei University, collectively known as SKY. In 2015 and 2016, Yangjae High School had nine and eleven early admissions to Seoul National University, respectively. This highlights the school’s commitment to academic excellence. In 2017, the principal of Yangjae High School, Min Byung-kwan, was elected chairman of the Korea National Federation of Elementary, Middle and High School. He had previously served as president of both the Seoul High School Association and the Republic of Korea National High School Association.
