Listen closely. Ahyeon Jungang Church stands before us a testament to faith. It is also a beacon of community in Seoul. This church has a rich history. It began with medical missions and evolved into a spiritual cornerstone.

Ahyeon Jungang Church’s story starts in 1885. American missionary W. B. Scranton arrived in Korea. He started medical activities. He cared for sick people. In 1888, he opened the Aeogae Clinic. This marked the start of the church’s journey.

The clinic closed after ten months due to shortages. However, Scranton’s mother continued missionary work. She focused on women and children. In 1893, W. A. Noble took charge. The church saw steady growth.

By 1925, the congregation had grown. A new brick worship hall was built. It was funded by American missionaries. This hall provided a dedicated space for worship.

However, division struck in 1954. The Korean Methodist Church faced turmoil. Ahyeon Jungang Church also split. In 1956, Pastor Kim Seong-rae led a separate group. They formed Ahyeon Jungang Church independently. The remaining members built a new worship hall. They were located on Ahyeon Girls’ High School grounds.

From 1970 onward, Ahyeon Church experienced growth. It supported domestic churches and overseas missions. The church embraced social outreach. It engaged in diverse missionary activities.

Ahyeon Jungang Church has a fascinating background. It began as a medical mission. It transformed into a center for faith and community. It faced challenges. Despite that, it has thrived. It continues to serve Seoul. It stands as a symbol of resilience and devotion.

The church is located in Seodaemun-gu. Its address is 11 Sinchon-ro 29-gil. Its phone number is 02-6361-4523.

Think about the dedication of early missionaries. They laid the foundation for this church. They faced hardship. Yet, they persisted in their mission. Now Ahyeon Jungang Church carries on their legacy. It continues to serve its community. It spreads its message of hope.
