Sincheon-dong is known as a place of culture. The Catholic Church was established as “Saemal Community” here in 1908. The construction of the Sincheon Catholic Church was completed in 1984.

The Sincheon Catholic Church belongs to the Catholic Diocese of Incheon. Its patron saint is Saint Joseph the Worker.

The church’s purpose is clear. Through evangelism, service, and worship, it seeks to build a community. It also aims to spread the Gospel of Christ.

The history goes back. During the late 19th century, Catholic believers sought refuge from religious persecution. They gathered in Sorea-myeon. They lived a life of faith and evangelism. Initially, they established the Daegeo Community. It was founded in 1889. It was under the supervision of Jemulpo Catholic Church in Incheon.

In the 1970s, people moved from Seoul to Siheung-gun. The population increased. The Catholic Diocese of Incheon decided to close the Daegeo Community. They established the Sincheon Community instead. On February 11, 1979, it was promoted to Sincheon Catholic Church.

The Sincheon Catholic Church has many activities. Masses are central to its worship. Masses are held on Sundays, Tuesdays, and weekdays. Sunday Mass includes services for different groups. There are masses for middle and high school students. There are also masses for young adults.

As of July 2018, the parish priest is Paul Hyun-cheol Joo. The church has 1,565 households. Around 3,500 parishioners belong to this community.

The Sincheon Catholic Church Education Hall represents much more than just bricks and mortar. It is a living embodiment of faith. It is a center for community. It is a symbol of resilience. The Sincheon Catholic Church Education Hall stands tall.
