Seongbavolo Sudohoe, or Daughters of St. Paul, is a Roman Catholic religious institute for women. It was founded in Italy on June 15, 1915. Blessed James Alberione established it. He also invited Maria Tecla Merlo as its first superior.
The Daughters of St. Paul are part of the Pauline Family. This was founded by James Alberione too. They operate in over 50 countries worldwide. Their focus is spreading the Gospel. They mainly use publications and media. Seongbavolo Sudohoe arrived in South Korea on December 13, 1960.
In 1961, the first supporters joined. In 1962, Seongbavolo Seowo, now known as Bavolo Ddeun, opened. They started home visits for missionary work. Seongbavolo Publishing Company was registered. The first publication was the “Gajeongui Bokumseo.”
In 1964, they officially started their publishing business. They created the Catholic Education Slide in 1973. They also started Bible Apostle jobs in 1978. In 1987, Seongbavolo Sudohoe became the official name of the religious order.
They’ve been involved in media. They joined the Seoul Peace Broadcasting Corporation in 1990. In 1996, they launched the Catholic Internet Bookstore Bavolo Ddeun. In 1997, the 수도회 opened a homepage.
Seongbavolo Sudohoe continues to spread the Gospel. They use modern digital platforms. In 2020, they opened Bavolo Hyewha Namu at Daehakro.
