By 2010, it boasted a membership of 150,000, a testament to its profound impact on the lives of countless individuals. Pastor Kim’s influence extended beyond the pulpit. A published poet, his words resonated not only with his congregation but also with audiences at international poetry festivals, including the XVIII International Poetry Festival of Medellín in 2008. The church has been a vital part of the Seoul community for generations. In September 2024, Seoul Sungrak Church celebrated its 60th anniversary. The church marked this milestone with a special “Plocka Upp” event. “Plocka Upp”, meaning a blend of “plocka upp” (Swedish for picking up litter) and jogging. This event reflected the church’s commitment not only to spiritual growth but also to community engagement and environmental responsibility. Participants jogged a 2.5km route, collecting litter along the way. This act of service transformed the surrounding area. It also served as a powerful symbol of the church’s dedication to positive change.
The 60th-anniversary celebrations didn’t end there. The church also hosted Thanksgiving services and events. These gatherings fostered a sense of unity and belonging among the members.
