This school has a long history. It began as Nanhansan Public Elementary School Sujin-ri Ganei School. This happened on April 10 1936. By 1938 the school changed its name slightly. It became Nanhansan Simsang Elementary School Sujin-ri Ganei School. A decade later in 1948 it was promoted. It was now Seongnam National Elementary School.
In 1996 the school took on its current name. It became Seongnam Elementary School. This change reflected the evolving educational landscape. In March 2000 Seongnam Elementary School added a special class. This showed its commitment to diverse learning needs.
Seongnam Elementary School has a proud tradition. It celebrated its first graduation in 1950. Fifty-six students marked this milestone. By 2023 the school held its 74th graduation ceremony. One hundred forty-five students graduated. In total Seongnam Elementary School has produced 23767 graduates.
