Awakening in 2011, Sunsa High School, also known as Seonsa Go등학교, quickly became a cornerstone of education in Seoul’s Gangdong district. This public high school, nestled in the vibrant Osan-dong neighborhood, has a fascinating, albeit short, history. Sunsa High School opened its doors to its first 252 students in March 2011. Just a few short years later, in 2014, the first graduating class of 237 students embarked on their next chapter. The school continued to grow. By 2022, the student body had expanded to around 760 students. As of May 1, 2022, Sunsa High School boasted a dedicated faculty of 76 teachers nurturing the minds of eager learners. Sunsa High School isn’t just an institution of learning. It’s a place where dreams are born and futures are shaped. One student, reflecting on their time at Sunsa, shared how the school’s focus on individualized attention and fostering a sense of community helped them discover their passion for environmental science. What began as a simple curiosity blossomed into a research project. This project led to an internship and ultimately solidified their decision to pursue environmental studies in college.
