“Learn diligently. Think correctly. Act briskly.” These words form the motto of Seoul Cheongpa Elementary School. It stands proudly in Yongsan-gu Seoul.
Seoul Cheongpa Elementary School first opened its doors as Gyeongseong Seogongdeok Public National School on January 20 1943. In April 1946 it was renamed Deokchang National School. A year later in June 1947 it became Seoul Cheongpa National School.
In 1974, Seoul Cheongpa Elementary School absorbed 860 students. This was due to the closure of Hyochang National School. In March 1996, the school received its current name. It is now known as Seoul Cheongpa Elementary School.
As of May 1 2023 Seoul Cheongpa Elementary School has 381 students. The school also employs 29 staff members.
The school’s symbol is the ginkgo tree. The school flower is the acacia. Seoul Cheongpa Elementary School aims to foster global citizens. To achieve this the school operates the Cheongpa Global Friends program.
Through this program students expand their understanding. They explore their place in the world. Students consider how to live as global citizens. The student clubs are student-led. They focus on experience and investigation.
For example students learn about children. These children struggle to find clean water. Students then build simple water purifiers. This provides a practical solution. It demonstrates global citizenship. Students also learn about world trade. They understand global economic connections. Students participate in trade simulations. They gain economic awareness.
