Prayers resonate within these walls. Here at Milalchurch 밀알교회. Welcome. Let me tell you a bit about this special place. Milalchurch is more than just a building. It is a community.
Milal translates to “a kernel of wheat” in South Korean. The Milal Mission was founded in 1979 by Dr. Jae Lee. He wanted to share the gospel with people who have disabilities. He also wanted to help them with their daily struggles. Milal also works to educate society about disabilities.
The organization started in South Korea. It now reaches people around the world. This includes the United States. It also includes Canada and Europe. Milal has expanded to South America. China, India, and Russia are also part of the Milal family.
Milal Mission in Richmond was founded in January 2009. Rev. Jinwook Oh oversaw the ministry until September 17, 2016. Since then, Rev. Paul Seo has led the mission. He serves as the new minister. He is also the presidential representative.
Milal Mission has three main goals. The first is evangelism. This means sharing the gospel with people who have disabilities. The second goal is service. It is providing help to those in need. The third is education. Educating both the church and society about disabilities.
Donations and volunteers keep Milal Mission going. They rely on support from churches and individuals. Volunteers dedicate their time and skills to the mission. Milal welcomes volunteers who are in 7th grade or higher. They may ask for a brief interview. Student volunteers can earn certificates for their service.
Donations to Milal Mission are tax deductible. The organization sends donors a financial statement each year. This provides proof for tax purposes.
