This unassuming structure holds a story richer than its simple facade suggests. \ub2f9\uc0b0\ub3d9 \uc131\ub2f9 isn’t just a place of worship. It’s a testament to faith, resilience, and the enduring spirit of a community. Our journey begins in the mid-20th century, a time of great upheaval and transformation in Korea. In June 1957, amidst the backdrop of a recovering nation, \ub2f9\uc0b0\ub3d9 \uc131\ub2f9 first opened its doors. It began as a humble offshoot of Dobong-dong Catholic Church, marked by a modest size of 959.7 pyeong (approximately 3170 square meters) and a capacity of 350 people. Just a few months prior, on April 15th, 1957, the cornerstone was laid, signifying the birth of this spiritual haven. The church’s construction, a beacon of hope amidst challenging times, was overseen by the first bishop, Paul Kim Byeong-Je (using the Korean pronunciation). He led the initial mass on June 17th, 1957, officially dedicating the space to worship and community. The original building, constructed from one main section, expanded into a three-story building between 1974 and 1988. This growth mirrors the burgeoning community it served. Today, \ub2f9\uc0b0\ub3d9 \uc131\ub2f9 offers a range of services, from early morning masses for busy commuters to evening services for those seeking solace after a long day. Daily masses are held at 6 a.m. and again at 10 a.m., providing spiritual nourishment throughout the week.
