“Floating Islands”. That is the enchanting name for what we know as \u9f99\u5b50\u5c3e\u6865. Vanke asked FCHA to design a chronic traffic system for Longgang District. This included planning eight bridges. The \u9f99\u5b50\u5c3e\u6865 is bridge number two. It has the highest degree of integration of architecture and landscape.
\u9f99\u5b50\u5c3e\u6865 sits next to Longgang Central District government. It links Vanke Square Commercial Complex with World Trade Department Store Square. Tianyu Phase II residential area and a commercial pedestrian street are also connected. The bridge spans Dezheng Road and crosses Longxiang Avenue. It is a two-story landscape corridor joining multiple platforms.
The area around \u9f99\u5b50\u5c3e\u6865 teems with people. The flow is complex and the situation is mixed. There was a lack of civic activity space. The surrounding park space was mainly natural landscape. The \u9f99\u5b50\u5c3e\u6865’s second floor provides an urban leisure spot. It solves traffic problems and enhances the area’s quality.
The design strategy for \u9f99\u5b50\u5c3e\u6865 focused on three things. It aimed to be a recreational green belt in a busy city. It sought to be a unique presence in a convergent city. It aspired to be the natural preserve of artificial cities.
The design concept is fascinating. Each “island” in \u9f99\u5b50\u5c3e\u6865 is its own island. People can find their own space here. They can blend in or be independent.
Designers analyzed people flow and sight lines. They considered scenery and functional needs. The landscape was deepened with “floating islands”. People flow like water branching into an island.
The bridge deck space is separated. This creates island spaces with different sizes and shapes. These islands host various activities. They meet the needs of different groups. \u9f99\u5b50\u5c3e\u6865 became an interesting park.
One of these spaces is Yulin Island. It combines greening with seats. Plastic wood, aluminum plate and terrazzo were used. The curved shape creates a cohesive space. Handroanthus chrysanthus trees offer greenery. People can relax amid the bustling city.
Spray Island is in the most crowded area. It is a multi-functional space. The ground is slightly sunken. A shallow beach forms on rainy days. Spraying devices adjust the microclimate. This public square can host events. People can run freely here.
Pleasure Island features undulating forms. Terrazzo and plastic wood create slopes. These slopes are perfect for running and playing. It is suitable for children and young people. You might spot roller skating or skateboarding.
Vitality Island has a tree pool with surrounding seats. Handroanthus impetiginosus trees bloom here. This area is near a school. It provides waiting areas for parents. Students can use it for after-school activities. A rigid activity plaza offers leisure activities.
A continuous canopy covers \u9f99\u5b50\u5c3e\u6865. It connects main moving lines and stairwells. This provides shade and rain protection. A metal sculpture tree stands at the south end. It features spray lighting. These structures increase recognition and interest.
