You might be wondering why a seemingly ordinary school deserves a spot on our tour. The answer lies in its birth, a tale interwoven with the growth of this very neighborhood. Takatsuki Shibutani Junior High School opened its doors in 1982. The area was experiencing a surge in residents, putting a strain on existing schools. Takatsuki Shibutani Junior High School was the answer, a solution born from redrawing school district boundaries. The school’s creation speaks volumes about the changing face of Kyoto, a city where modern growth intertwines with ancient history. Initially, the school occupied space previously used by the Kichijo and the Aza-Kiyozuka elementary schools. However, in 2001, another shift occurred. Takatsuki Shibutani Junior High School underwent a change in its designated area.
