Does this bridge whisper tales of an alcohol immortal? The Jiuxianqiao, also known as the Bridge of the Alcohol Immortal, stands here in Beijing. This bridge lends its name to the surrounding Jiuxianqiao Subdistrict. The subdistrict is a vibrant area within the Chaoyang District. It has a population of over 63000 people.

Legend says an immortal dropped his liquor here long ago. Ever since the river has carried a pleasant scent. This legend gives the Jiuxianqiao its unique name and identity. It links the bridge to local folklore.

The Jiuxianqiao’s history is intertwined with the evolution of its district. The area has seen many administrative changes. It was once part of Daxing County during the Ming Dynasty. In 1947, it became part of the 19th Suburban District. The People’s Government of Jiuxianqiao was established in 1950. This formed part of the 13th Suburban District. By 1958, it was formally established as Jiuxianqiao Subdistrict. For a time in 1968, it was renamed Donghong Road Subdistrict. However, in 1975, it was renamed Jiuxianqiao Subdistrict again.

Today, the Jiuxianqiao is more than just a bridge. It represents a community. It connects people to the past. The name itself evokes a sense of wonder. It reminds us of the stories. These stories shape our understanding of this place.
